The storage operations team is responsible for minimizing the adverse impacts of Incidents and Problems on the business caused by errors in the IT Infrastructure and initiate actions to prevent recurrence of incidents related to those errors and provide Health & welfare of the Storage environment.

Provide storage utility Management support to Microsoft internal Business Unit IT customers in providing technical support activities for line of business and mission critical production applications and servers at Microsoft’s Data Centers Worldwide .Partner with MSIT SMD team to drive the storage consolidation & virtualization commitment across the DC’s. We are looking for candidate to lead, participate and collaborate on various projects of various sizes.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Proactive identification of problems in the storage infrastructure and working towards their resolution.
• Provide L3 support for Incident Management team and also provide escalation support for storage utility changes.
• Documentation : Own the storage utility documentation and TSG’s that will be used by Incident Management team
• Act as liason between Support and Engineering teams, and work closely with engineering teams on getting the emerging technologies into production.
• Do root-cause analysis for reactive problems reported up from the Incident Management teams.
• Trend incidents and analyze opportunities for incident reduction, process improvements and driving efficiencies where possible.
• Be able to run small to medium size efficiency projects (Six Sigma) within the team cutting across technical silos.
• Think creatively on areas where the Problem management effort can be focused for the business.
• Update existing TSGs/write new ones where needed.
• Write up professional PIR documents for major incidents and follow up with different business groups for completion of action items.
• Work across multiple groups/geographies and be able to build solid relationships.
• Promotes proactive and cooperative relationships with other operations analysts, implementation teams, tier 3 groups, infrastructure system managers, as well as IT managers and MS development team members.
• Accountable to global mid and high level managers, as well corporate users and data center clients.
• Responsible for special functions/projects as directed by management.
• Be able to support/write small scripts/tools needed to keep the Operations ticking smoothly.
• Document work according to laid down processes.

• MCSE – Windows 2003 Track
• MOF/ITIL Trained and Certified
• Managing HP & EMC clarion , DMX & VMAX
• Managing Cisco MDS & Brocade san switches.
• Windows Virtualization , VMM (Desirable)
• T-SQL & SQL DBA Skills (Desirable)
• Scripting Skills (Desirable)
• Six Sigma Green Belt Trained/Certified (Desirable)
• Should have strong IT operations background in mid to enterprise size environments and have experience in driving efficiency & automation projects.
• Deep technical expertise in Windows, storage & and tools. Good to have Data Protection and virtualization technologies as well as they all part of the utility group.
• Experience working with trend analysis, metric design and monitoring and cross-group project experiences preferable.
• Global experience (desirable)
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal

• Basic windows administration
• Managing & Handling HP EVA’s & EMC (Clarion , DMX,VMAX) storage arrays
• Managing & Handling Cisco MDS & brocade san switches.
• Should know basics of NAS and should be able to handle it with ease.
• Should have good understanding on Latest storage technologies like (ILM, HSM, de duplication) etc
• Ability to handle & manage storage replications (Host side & Array side)
• Should be well versed with storage migration & storage consolidation techniques.
• Data Protection and virtualization skills (Desirable)
• SQL scripting (Desirable)
• Perl/Windows Scripting (Desirable)
